Iowa Heart Foundation Board will be hosting the 21st Annual Cardiovascular Today conference.
- Time: 7:00-8:00am Check-in & Continental Breakfast; 8:00am-3:30pm Conference
- Location: Hy-Vee Conference Center, 5820 Westown Parkway,West Des Moines, Iowa
- Audience: Physicians, Podiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Dietitians, Sonographers, Radiologic Technicians
- Credits: Please refer to brochure for details on continuing education credits.
- Registration: Complete registration form (see brochure), submit $35 registration fee by mailing to Iowa Heart Foundation at 5880 University Avenue, Suite 101, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
- Registration Deadline: January 30, 2012. Please register early - space is limited.

The Iowa Heart Foundation hosted its 3rd Annual Nursing and Medical Assistant Conference on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Iowa Heart Center Auditorium in West Des Moines, Iowa. Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Medical Assistants, and Registered Medical Assistants attended the event focused upon Cardiovascular Disease. Ryoma Seto, PhD, RN, Associate Professor from Tokyo Healthcare University also attended the educational event. Speakers included Rachel Onsrud, ARNP, George Dorsey, MA, LMSW, LADC, Kelly Taylor, RN, MSN, Sheri VerSteeg, RN, and Lynn Swinger, RD, LD.

The Iowa Heart Foundation held its 4th annual run/walk fundraising event on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Des Moines Water Works Park.
The cool morning greeted the 156 runners/walkers. Events included a 5K and 10K run and the 1 mile walk. Highlights from the event included our first cardiac spokesperson, Pam Gaulke who shared her personal story about the importance of debrillators in saving lives.
Event medals were awarded to the top three women and men in each age category. Funds raised from this event will be used to place 5 AEDs within Iowa communities and businesses during 2011-2012.

Iowa Heart Foundation Board hosted its 20th Annual Cardiovascular Today conference on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Hy-Vee Conference Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Iowa Heart Foundation hosted its 1st Annual Medical Assistant Conference on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Iowa Heart Center Auditorium in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Certified Medical Assistants, Medical Assistants, and Registered Medical Assistants attended the event focused upon Cardiovascular Disease and Billing/Coding practices. Speakers included Beth Chia, ARNP, Rachel Onsrud, ARNP, and Terri Harris, RN, BSN, MHA.

2nd Annual Nursing Symposium

Iowa Heart Foundation held its 2nd Annual Nursing Symposium on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Iowa Heart Center's West University office.
Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses attended the event focused upon Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension. Booth display vendors and sponsors included Boehringer, Cardionet, Cardiotabs, GlaxoSmithKline, Lifewatch, Forest, Sanofi-Aventis, and St. Jude Medical.
Speakers were Janet Maxson, PhD, APN-BC, PA-C, FAHA, FNLA; Diane McIlhon, RD, LD; Jen Peterson, BS; Peggy Palmer Johnson, MSW, LISW; and CoraLynn Trewet, MS, PharmD, BCPS, FNLA.

A beautiful, sunny 65 degree morning greeted the 150 runners/walkers. Events included a 5K and 10K run and the 1 mile walk.
Highlights from the event included many participants with heart disease who participated in this year's event.
Event medals were awarded to the top three women and men in each age category. Funds raised from this event will be used to place 5-6 AEDs within Iowa communities and businesses during 2010-2011.

Free "Friends and Family" CPR Training

The Iowa Heart Foundation held its 3rd annual free "Friends and Family" Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) class on Saturday, April 9, 2010. 
The class included training on how to perform effective CPR, how to assist an individual who is choking, and an introduction on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator or AED. This year participants included patients, family members, and the public. Feedback from participants included the class was "excellent" and they "learned a lot about CPR."

The Iowa Heart Foundation will hold its annual Cardiovascular Today conference on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Hy-Vee Conference Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. The intended audience is Physicians, Podiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Dietitians, and Sonographers.
